The Amazing Tamales at Long Beach Farmer's Market

Sabrina takes you to the Long Beach Farmer's Market in Bixby Knolls for an up close taste of Tamales, Fresh Produce and more.

Do you Remember when Farmers Markets became a craze and began popping up everywhere? In Long Beach we have the advantage of good weather and local farms.

While I love fresh produce, I have to admit that the handmade daily tamales are the high point of my trip to the Farmer's Market.

There are so many great reasons to shop fresh and shop local.

Saving dollars during the pandemic is on everyone's mind. With better deals on quality fresh food the Farmer's Market cuts out the middle man and you experience the true farm to table experience.

If you're like me, you love the added benefit of directly engaging with the people who grow your food. Knowing exactly where my food comes from and how it’s grown brings me peace of mind.

COVID 19 has brought on other benefits unique to our local Farmer's Market that before now weren't really considerations. One of them is that shopping out doors in the open air allows for safer social distancing and natural ventilation.

More than anything, it was great to help stimulate the small business that make up our local economy.

According to Fruitgrowers.com, ‘The “Golden State” boasts more than 77,500 farms and produces more than 400 different types of grocery store produce, including two-thirds of the country’s fruit and nuts."

Don't forget that all Long Beach Farmer's Markets offer tokens or tickets for CalFresh SNAP and WIC program recipients.

See you at a Farmer's Market near you!
